Jeremiah had been really excited to be participating. He had been working on the Bumblebee all week getting her race ready.
Day 1: Wednesday
The kids couldn't wait to get out of town. They were wrestling and playing in the backseat.
Before getting to our destination, we made a few stops at some cool new shops that opened up not too long ago. Here we are at our good friend Chase's new shop HWY in Los Angeles.
We made it to Pismo Beach, ate some chowder at the Splash Café and walked on the pier. The kids were interested in the fishermen at the end of the pier, who told us they have caught different types of sharks.
Day 2-3: Beach and Campground Scenes
Jonas really tried to catch something. He would prepare his fishing pole in the morning, talk all day about fishing. He would stand out there, waiting patiently for a fish to bite, but unfortunately nothing was interested. He tried and tried, every day that I took them out there. Maybe next time.
Race Day: Saturday
The weather had been perfect the previous day, but turned over night. It was foggy and rainy from the start. The tide was high, which made it tricky for the event planners, racers and spectators. It did not matter in the end, as everyone was there to have a good time and make the most of it. We walked around where all of the bikes and cars were parked, and everyone looked in good spirits.
The kids and I waited around in the truck, but as we saw them getting ready we caught up to where Jeremiah was waiting. Everyone had been standing outside, so everyone was getting sprinkled on, unless you had an umbrella. It was a bit hectic waiting to see what was going on, but the kids were good and patient. I just quieted them down with junk food and ice cream once we found a spot.
We were able to see a few of the races, but most importantly they saw
their dad racing against a beautiful backdrop, the ocean on a cloudy
day, along with some of his friends, a memory to keep for sure.
